This course is a study of circles in graph and equation form, area and volume of polygons, and spatial awareness of 2D and 3D models. Students also study statistic calculations, including probability, permutations, and combinations. This is the second course in a two-part Geometry series. This course also encompasses Common Core State Standards (CCSS).
This course uses Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes (KSA) model to give students the opportunity to develop both real-world 21st Century Skills and Social and Emotional Learning Soft Skills to develop college and career readiness.
- Knowledge: Geometry, Part 2
- Skill: Creativity—Openness and Courage to Explore
- Attribute: Integrity
What You’ll Learn
- Circles, Conics & Geometry in the Plane: Study circles in both equation and graph form, and explore conic sections (parabolas, ellipses, hyperbolas).
- Area, Volume & Solids: Calculate areas of polygons, circles, and volumes of 3D shapes, including cross-sections and solids of revolution.
- Probability & Statistics Foundations: Learn probability rules, permutations, combinations, and two-way tables to analyze data.
- Spatial Reasoning & Models: Work with 2D and 3D models to build intuition for geometry in space and solve real-world problems.
- Credit hours: 0.5 hour
