This course is an introduction to public speaking that involves analyzing a variety of speeches using classical and contemporary theories. Students also learn to speak in an organized and effective manner and prepare a complete speech outline with supporting material.
This course uses Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes (KSA) model to give students the opportunity to develop both real-world 21st Century Skills and Social and Emotional Learning Soft Skills to develop college and career readiness.

- Speech Analysis & Rhetoric: Examine classical and modern speech styles and rhetorical strategies to understand effective communication.
- Organized Speech Construction: Learn to structure speeches clearly, with strong introductions, conclusions, and supporting materials.
- Delivery & Audience Engagement: Practice effective delivery techniques—voice, movement, visuals—and ways to connect with listeners.

Students must have access to an audio and video recording device to turn in speeches for grading.
