What Academic Programs are offered?
Students at ICA have access to a wide range of courses that help them build strong academic foundations and practical life skills. They can study subjects like anatomy and physiology to understand how the human body works, earth science to explore the planet and universe, and world geography to learn about global regions and human-environment interactions.
Technology and career-readiness are emphasized through courses such as Exploring Computer Science, Business Office Specialist, and Sports and Entertainment Marketing, where students gain programming basics, workplace software proficiency, and real-world marketing skills. Many life-skills courses are also offered, including Business Math and Personal Finance and Food and Nutrition, which teach money management, healthy eating, and everyday safety.
For students seeking strong academic growth, Advanced Literature Comprehension develops critical reading and writing abilities, while ACT Preparation supports college-readiness. Altogether, these courses help students become well-rounded, capable, and confident learners prepared for both college and future careers.
Skills, Benefits and Goals for a Well Rounded Student
Through our curriculum, ICA aims to help students:
- Build foundational academic knowledge across STEM (science, math, earth/science), humanities (literature, geography, social studies), and practical life skills (nutrition, finance, business, computer skills).
- Develop real-world and 21st-century skills — critical thinking, communication, problem-solving, digital literacy, and even soft/social-emotional skills. The school describes many courses as using a “Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes (KSA)” model to emphasize readiness for college and career.
- Offer flexibility and customization — students can pick courses that match their interests or needs, pace themselves independently, or follow a more structured semester schedule.
- Prepare for college or career paths — with advanced tracks, elective and career-oriented courses (like business, marketing, computer science), and support for standardized testing or college-level coursework.
