The goal of this course is to help students become better informed, more effective participants in the American political system. Students will explore the roots of the American government and the constitutional republic. They will also learn about the separation of powers and the three branches of power, the Bill of Rights, the privileges of citizenship, elections, and the media’s influence on politics. This course has replaced American (U.S) Government and Citizenship.
This course uses Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes (KSA) model to give students the opportunity to develop both real-world 21st Century Skills and Social and Emotional Learning Soft Skills to develop college and career readiness.

- Citizenship, Rights & Responsibilities: Understand civil liberties, amendment protections, civic duties, and the privileges of being a U.S. citizen.
- Civic Participation & Media Influence: Examine elections, public opinion, the media’s role, and how individuals can engage as informed citizens.
