In this course, students explore the theme of freedom of speech and censorship in literature and learn to research and write an argumentative essay. Students apply literacy skills and strategies, complete application and writing assignments, and practice grammar and usage skills. This is the second course in a two-part Ninth-Grade English series. This course also encompasses the Common Core State Standards (CCSS).
This course uses Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes (KSA) model to give students the opportunity to develop both real-world 21st Century Skills and Social and Emotional Learning Soft Skills to develop college and career readiness.

What You’ll Learn
- Expression: Learn to express yourself effectively in written texts and in a powerful persuasive oral speech.

- Research: Research a topic thoroughly and use information gathered to craft a powerful argumentative essay, including looking at things from other perspectives.
